This Is Our City
We are the city and the city is us. There is a bond between us, which affects us equally. The city is constantly changing as more and...
SaBarBar is a platform for open participation in a co-creation process, triggered by true stories, testimonies and narratives of residents of Exarchia, which will be converted into lyrics, songs, serenades and a theatrical polyphonic performance.
It is a call to an unmediated experience of sharing and open discussion in public space, in an effort to learn from each other, from the way each of us perceives the reality in the neighborhood. In order to bring the ‘other realities’ into a dialectical relationship with each other, highlighting practices of co-creation, synergy and active participation in the common space.
The actions of saBarBar are addressed to everyone. They include extrovert activities in the neighborhood, workshops of oral history, song creation and theater, (open) rehearsals and a theatrical polyphonic performance. Responsible for the extroversion of saBarBar is an "art and meeting space on wheels" which will often park in Exarchia and will create an occasion for us to meet, exchange ideas and reflections.. At the same time, it will collect stories, inform and invite everyone to take part in the next actions. Look for it and ... join the ride!! To turn together the street into an open laboratory for citizens’ expression and co-creation.
SaBarBar was jointly created by Momina Algaga, Yaman Junaid, Fanis Katehos, Anna Magoulioti, Katerina Protonotariou, George Sachinis, Mohammad Tayeb and Vassia Valkanioti. A collaboration between UrbanDig Project and Fabrica Athens.
Meet our team members
Apart from open workshops and meetings, SaBarBar’s goal is to be actively present in public space as well. Covid-19 has made this really difficult, but we won’t quit!
Public space’s meaning is becoming more and more important – and especially in Exarchia. SaBarBar is looking for ways that will bring out the importance and fruitful dynamics of local public space under the current conditions.
Discover the stories of Exarchia and –soon- songs inspired by them in Digital Troubadours platform.

You bring your energy and joy, so as to create characters, dialogues, small scenes, but also solo creations at the end of May!
It is suggested, without being necessary, to participate in all 4 workshops.
The theater workshops will be held in English and Greek and are addressed to people of all nationalities, with an interest in the neighborhood of Exarcheia.
