Workshops
Oral History Workshops
The Oral History Workshops intend to support participants in getting familiar with oral history's methodology: collecting and processing oral testimonies.
During November and December of 2020, we conducted a circle of 4 introductory digital workshops, under the guidance of Tasoula Vervenioti – a historian with wide experience in Oral History- and facilitated by George Sachinis. The workshops started with 30 participants, while more than 15 interviews of people living in or connected to Exarchia were taken.
Songs’ Co-creation Workshops
The Songs’ Co-creation Workshops are artistic meetings between songwriters and Exarchia’s stories. The goal of this interaction is the co-creation of songs that are based in the Exarchia stories collected at the previous circle of workshops.
This circle is constituted of 2 meetings programmed to take place during the last middle of February 2021. George Sachinis –experienced in the process of collecting stories and turning them into songs- will be the host of these 2 meetings that intend to inspire lyrics and music writers to create “the soundtrack of people living in Exarchia”.
Theater Workshops
The Theater Workshops intend to explore performatively the songs’ created during the previous circle. These workshops are also functioning as a bridge between this process and the final street performance.
This last circle of 4 workshops will take place during March 2021. Fanis Katehos and Vassia Valkanioti will guide these musical-theatrical meetings.
Public Activities
Apart from open workshops and meetings, SaBarBar’s goal is to be actively present in public space as well. Covid-19 has made this really difficult, but we won’t quit!
Public space’s meaning is becoming more and more important – and especially in Exarchia. SaBarBar is looking for ways that will bring out the importance and fruitful dynamics of local public space under the current conditions.
